Welcome to the Girl Scout Volunteer Blog!
Posted on October 24, 2012 by Little Brownie Bakers
We’re glad you’re here!
In a recent volunteer survey, over 60 percent of respondents said a volunteer blog would best suit needs for Cookie Season support. You spoke and we listened!Volunteers help girls succeed. This blog was created to help volunteers succeed — by giving you fun activities, crafts, recipes and planning tips for the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Plus, this is the very best place to get all the latest news about the first-ever National Girl Scout Cookie Sleepover, coming on Jan. 12, 2013.
We hope you’ll find it all as easy as it is inspiring!
You play a special role in the Girl Scout Cookie Program and hold a very special place in the hearts of girls. As a Girl Scout volunteer, you:
- Give your time and talents to teach important 5 Skills for Girls through the Cookie Program
- Ensure girls are safe along the way
- Are a role model for leadership
- Help girls reach their dreams
We want to support you at every step.
National Girl Scout Cookie Sleepover on
January 12th sounds like fun.
We are going to try a Cookie Series for the older scouts. What do you think would be fun and useful for them?
What is a cookie series?
This is great. I can’t wait to see more.
Training was great on Saturday, Oct. 27th. Received some excellent information. Can’t wait to share it with our Service Unit.
Good luck to all the troops selling this year around the US. I hope your girls, parents and leaders have a ton of fun.
I think this is going to be so much fun. Cookie Sleepover, Service Unit Kickoff Party, and a Council Rally! Really what more can any Girl Scouts ask for to get excited for cookies. Not to mention all the great skills they are going to learn and continue to build on. I can’t wait to read more.
THIS WILL BE FUN!
This sounds fun and exciting. I can’t wait to get more info and planning activities. But one question what time will this take place or is it anytime on Jan 12th? Also is it possible to start early?
How you sign up to receive emails from the blog? Thank you!
This feature will be coming soon!
The cookie sleep over will be a great way for girls to meet girls from other troops and see how they will be working towards their goal.
I am considering doing a pajama party, but not an all nighted with my Junior girls.
What time does this start online? I am on the East coast, so please indicate the time zone.
The sleepover begins at 8 p.m. local time, no matter what part of the country you are in. That is the time it will go live online.
Now that it is past Dec 1 where can we get a copy of the PJ party DVD? 8 pm is a little late for my Daisy Girls. Thanks.
If you are planning on have your event on January 12, prior to 8 pm, no worries! We will post on the Little Brownie Volunteer Blog, the link to the Sleepover event early enough on January 12 to accommodate any troops who need to meet in the afternoon or early evening instead of the official 8 pm viewing time. If you are meeting prior to January 12, please contact your local Girl Scout Council for options.

I remember seeing a flyer that could be printed to let all the girls and their parents know about the sleepoever. Now I can find it. Help
Little Brownie will supply fun materials to help your council promote the event to volunteers. These include sample egrams, press releases and web banners. You will also be able to access them at http://www.idealcookiesale.com. Be sure to distribute the printed Cookie Season Volunteer Guides from Little Brownie early in the program year, as they feature a full-page promotion of the event.

I’m looking for a Step by Step instructions for parents to sign up and use the Cookie Club emails. I didn’t see it on any of the websites. Can you help?
It looks like your council is in the Pilot program. Click on “Contact Us” from the home page and enter your information in the form. From there the team can guide you through the steps. Here is the link to help get you underway: https://ebudde.littlebrownie.com/cc_ng_support/contact_us
This is going to be a great thing, thanks.
I’m looking for fun activities for parent training. I hate just going over the rules–so boring for the moms–and me! I’ve done “Jeopardy” with them, but am looking for new ideas. Can you help?
How about making the puppets as a craft in a meeting prior to parent meeting. Then the girls can practice delivering their parent meeting information via a puppet show. At the end of the parent meeting, suggest that girls take the puppets home and use them to role play and practice their sales pitch with their family members to keep parents involved.
