Help girls see just where goals can take them. Use this fun memo board craft to help them brainstorm about how they might use their cookie money this year. Girls can slip clippings and photos that represent their ideas beneath the colorful ribbons to create a collage. The board can be saved and reused for brainstorming on a different topic or as a photo display.

Materials:

  • One 16 x 20-inch, back-stapled canvas (can be purchased in multipacks if each girl is making her own)
  • Quilt batting
  • Fabric
  • Ribbon
  • Strong, fast-dry glue
  • Binder clips

To prepare, cut the quilt batting into 16 x 20-inch sections, one for each board. Also cut the fabric to 20 x 24-inch sections. Then, invite girls to start putting their memo board together.

  1. Girls start by placing the quilt batting on their canvas.
  2. Lay the fabric over the quilt batting, leaving 4 inches of fabric hanging over the edges.
  3. Starting with one side, girls glue the excess fabric to the back of the canvas. Secure with binder clips.
  4. Next, gently pull the fabric taut, and glue the fabric on the opposite side in the same manner, securing with binder clips.
  5. Continue with the remaining sides.
  6. While the glue is drying, invite girls to choose ribbons and lay them diagonally across their fabric-covered memo board.
  7. Once the glue is dry, remove the binder clips.
  8. Glue the ends of the ribbon to the back of the canvas, one at a time, being sure to gently pull the ribbon taut and securing with binder clips.
  9. Once the glue is dry, remove the binder clips.

Now it’s time for everyone to fill their boards with inspiring cookie goal ideas!

One idea to post: Always ask for a donation at the end of each sale, even ask for their change. If they buy 2 boxes and you give them $2 in change, ask them to donate the change to the Gift of Caring. Every little bit counts and donation are loved by all organizations! Good luck
