Cookie charm bracelets girls love

Posted on November 2, 2012 by Little Brownie Bakers

Girl will love making this “charming” cookie catalog to wear on their wrists.

A savvy business person knows her product well so she can sell with clarity and confidence. This keepsake bracelet will help girls brush up on their cookie facts. Not only is this fun bracelet a conversation-starter, but it is a fashionable “cookie catalog” that can be used to present the cookie line-up to interested buyers at moment’s notice.

Supplies:

  • 12-inch ribbon (1 per girl)
  • 6 to 8 key tags per girl (Each girl should have one for each variety of cookie sold.)
  •  1 set of cookie or cookie character images per girl. (You can print these on mailing labels in advance so they are in a sticker format. Or girls can use glue to attach the images.)
  • 1 lanyard clip per girl (¾-inch size is ideal)
  • Markers or colored pencils

Instructions:

  1. Provide each girl with one set of supplies.
  2. Encourage girls to cut out the round cookie images.
  3. Invite girls to stick or glue a cookie image on one side of each key tag.
  4. Use markers to write the cookie name and/or descriptions on the opposite side of each charm.
  5. Tie the lanyard clip to one end of the ribbon.
  6. Tie the charms onto the ribbon, about 1 inch apart

Large group tips!

  • Consider buying key tags with the cookie pictures pre-printed on them. Look for low-cost, bulk key tag and lanyard clip vendors online.
  • Alternatively, girls can make a necklace with a single pendant. Each girl chooses her favorite cookie for the front and writes her cookie goal on the back. Each girl will need one key tag, one cookie image of her choice and a 36-inch ribbon for assembling a necklace.

Does anyone have a good low cost place to buy the key tags from? I dont think paying 100.00 for every 20 girls is a good way to use resourses wisely.

Hi Jodi, we actually bought our keytags online, in bulk, from a place called NapSupply.com. Online bulk vendors like Nap Supply offer attractive prices (try searching for “Key Tags” or “Round Paper Key Tags” to compare vendors). The key tags we bought were packed in bags of 50, which are enough for about 8 bracelets, so you don’t have to order a ton to buy in bulk. There are also some places that will pre-print the tags for you if the activity is for a really large group and the planners are looking to speed up the activity. The lanyard clips that are needed for the bracelets are also less expensive bought in bulk, online – we used USALanyards.com.

Hi! The Cookie Character Images look like each little circle is cut off at the bottom. Is there a better version of this? Also, what type of labels should we print them on? Thanks!

Hi Jenny, the cookie character art files are in the council resource eTools and on our website, http://littlebrowniebakers.com/clipart/. The labels can print on regular address label paper (1” x 2 5/8” labels). It also works well to print on a full sheet of 8 ½” x 11” adhesive backed paper. The flat edge of each character circle can also be positioned near the part of the key tag with the hole (where the ring attaches to the tag) to hide the edge. Hope this helps!

        That does help! Thank you!!

          Hi Jenny,
I was able to modify the size of the images to fit on the labels by doing the following:
          1. make a screenprint of the images from the .pdf file provided above and paste them into Paint
          2. copy and paste each image from Paint into the labels (Avery 1560 size) in MicroSoft Word. From there, resize the image to the correct size to fit on the label.
Also, since our council only sells the super six, I was able to make 10 copies of the cookie images on one sheet, with no unused labels.
I can’t wait to make these with my troop. Good luck!

Office Max has key tags, 50 in a pkg. for $7.95.
My service unit and 6 other service units are having a cookie rally, we are expecting
200+ girls. Thanks for the info for bulk key tags but we may use bottle caps in place of
key tags to save a little.

I found the key tags @ Office Max but also found round labels to fit the key tags @ $8.99 for 600. I plan to print the cookie on 1 side and the girls can apply a foamie to the other side and it will make a bracelet that blings.

Staples has Martha Stewart 1 1/4″ Metal Rim Tags, 20 in each package for $2.99. They’re cute, too – you can get yellow or blue and they come with a cute string attached. I think this product is great for smaller groups!

I’m very disappointed there isn’t another option to print the actual pictures of the cookies for this instead of the ‘cookie characters’. The tag template given with cookie characters are very hard to read and some of them don’t look much like the cookie at all. I really like the look of the picture where you are showing the finished bracelet with the picture of the actual cookie on each tag.

I can’t wait to show this activity to my girls troop. Thanks for the post.

The cookie characters one doesn’t appear to be formatted correctly – it is printing “high” on my label sheet. The cookie pictures one is perfect. Any chance the cookie characters one could be fixed?
